The staff of the Protea Hotel certainly got into the spirit of Christmas Day, with hats being worn, balloons being given to the children, a fabulous buffet spread in the dining room, carol singers harmonising and Santa arriving on a jet ski.

SAFAIR meanwhile, organised their own Christmas lunch out near the pool, with Mike excelling himself at the potjie.

For those who don’t know a potjie (poi-kee) or potjiekos (poi-kee-cos), is a traditional Afrikaner way of cooking, in a large cast iron pot over a fire, and harks back to the Voortrekker days.
